Goal
Redesign the Youtooz website to be more user friendly
Strategy
Following the current Youtooz brand, I focused in on making sure there was obvious and consistent navigation on each page
Step 1: Analyze Elements of Original Website
Home Page
They often utilize a count-down as their heading and emphasize the newest items. Scrolling down reveals more new and available items. Navigation is limited to a “See All” tab and searching based on key words.
Main Store Page
Shows off items with plenty of color and illustrations. Navigation is entirely absent. Items appear to be organized by time released; there could be a benefit to having additional options to organize merchandise by content creators, internet culture, pop-culture, etc.
Item Page
The item is the focal point and there is clear navigation for multiple views of the item. Copy on this page has a good amount of wit, but it needs to be broken up into multiple paragraphs. More color could be used and (for sold out items) the link to scalpers could be replaced with a way to request that the item be re-released.
Step 2: Wireframing
-
Home Page
The new home page was designed to allow for constant updates to feature the newest merchandise while keeping navigation consistent and easy to use.
-
Main Store Page
Keeping a similar look to the original, the new store page would have more comprehensive ways to look up and sort through merchandise.
-
Item Page
The page with the least editing, the goal of the updated item page was to shift the design to be as legible and user-friendly as possible.
